Bula is the only producer of PRESS FORGED M14 receivers. LRB is the only producer of HAMMER FORGED receivers. I did not know this until I was talking to some interested passers-by at SHOT and I said they were hammer forged.

The BM59 designers apparently figured a way to move the clip to a thicker location. I think the real M14 heal is cool for a collector, but as a shooter I like the solid, one piece forging of my receiver. I have no data on the welded M14 receivers, so they may prove to be just as reliable as mine. AS long as the original firearm receiver has been properly "destroyed" it is now just a piece of metal.. Are the holes where the weld is or part of the Winchester heel? I have a WRA M1 with some little marks from the forging but I've never seen an original WRA M14 receiver.
