KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Tennessee redshirt senior Hendon Hooker has been named a Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award semifinalist, as announced by the Davey O'Brien Foundation on Tuesday.Hooker is one of 16 semifinalists, including five from the SEC, and is the first UT signal caller to be named a semifinalist for the award since Erik Ainge in 2006.The list will be updated throughout the season with the additions of weekly "Great 8" quarterback nominees. The midseason watch list of contenders for the Davey O'Brien Award will be released Oct. 18.Stroud was a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award last season. Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett and Alabama’s Bryce Young were also finalists, and Young won the award. He also beat Stroud for the Heisman Trophy. But Stroud has gotten significantly better this offseason for Ohio State, on and off the field.
